What challenges are there when implementing a process control system?

Process engineering solutions often have to be integrated into existing information systems and each process chain has to be programmed individually. In addition, there may be a lack of in-house expertise to design and implement effective process control, which means that external services or at least training of in-house staff is required.

Our process engineering solution can be implemented quickly and easily using a setup program and the entire system can be flexibly controlled using an individually configurable program editor and a powerful automation system.

How can the efficiency of a process control system be optimized?

To optimize the efficiency of process controls, several adjustments can be made in cooperation with the plant manufacturers and JUMO. The decisive criteria include process analysis and optimization. In addition, implement automation for control wherever this makes sense. This can reduce repetitive tasks as well as errors and increase the speed of process execution. It also makes sense to standardize processes and integrate technologies that can seamlessly integrate with other business systems to improve data flows and close information gaps.

Our program sequence control solution facilitates the optimization and automation of process engineering processes through an individually configurable program editor. It brings numerous advantages and benefits to plant manufacturers, plant operators and plant operators.

What is the difference between time-controlled and process-controlled sequential controls?

Time-controlled sequence controls run according to a fixed schedule. The individual steps are carried out at predetermined times, regardless of the status of other activities or processes.

Process-guided sequence control, on the other hand, focuses on the process sequences themselves. This type of control reacts to certain events or conditions within the process. For example, individual steps can be triggered as soon as an active step is completed. It is therefore obvious that process-dependent sequence control is the supreme discipline in the field of process control and can also react flexibly to random irregularities.

With JUMO's sequence control, both time-controlled and process-controlled sequence controls and their logical linking (AND, OR) are possible.

Do step chains have to be programmed?

Step chain programming is required for the vast majority of sequence controllers. Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are programmed in an industrial environment using a special programming environment (in accordance with IEC 61131-3). This is used to implement the specific program sequences. This also includes setting up mechanisms for recognizing and reacting to errors or unforeseen events during the process.

With JUMO sequence control, process steps and plant types are created using JUMO smartWARE Setup and the programs are created using JUMO variTRON Program Editor. There is no need to program sequence chains, as sequence control can be achieved quickly using a simple intuitive configuration. The CODESYS programming environment can be used to individualize the entire solution. It also provides a ready-made visualization for the plant operator.
