By the end of 2025, JUMO aims to develop a clear picture of the ecosystem for its focus industries that optimally supports the target applications. Christoph Trott, Head of Strategic Product Management at JUMO, explains: "Our full attention is currently directed toward 6 focus industries." These are the process technology industries: food and beverage, thermoprocess technology, water and wastewater engineering, transportation, renewable energy, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning."

The key question: which products are needed to create a consistent ecosystem for the target applications of JUMO customers and to orchestrate the services effectively? Trott emphasizes: "Our concert focuses on customers and applications. The industry and applications determine the pieces to be played, and new soloists complete the orchestra. Here, Industry Management does the conducting. As you can see, it is a tailor-made experience for the customer."

The goal is to further develop and expand 6 independent automation pyramids for the aforementioned industries. “We will ensure completeness across all industries and thereby increase readiness,” emphasizes Trott. Each new product contributes to strengthening these markets, so that entire industries can be served by JUMO from a single source across all levels of the pyramid – from the sensor to the cloud. This strategic initiative positions JUMO as a comprehensive system and solution provider while emphasizing its innovative strength and customer focus.

Orchestration of services

Michael Wiener, Product Manager for Control Systems at JUMO, considers the heat treatment line with a continuous furnace to be an outstanding example of the performance capabilities of JUMO systems. “It's comparable to conducting an orchestra,” says Wiener, picking up on Trott's image. Wiener sees this as an ideal application in which the analog modules of the I/O system from JUMO score particularly well by meeting the strict AMS2750 and CQI-9 conformity requirements for measured value acquisition. These standards are crucial for quality assurance and process optimization in thermoprocess technology.

The controller module is particularly noteworthy − it not only meets the aforementioned conformity requirements, but it is also capable of running independently. Even in the event of a system bus interruption, it continues to control reliably. "This is a decisive USP in the market, as it can prevent significant financial losses in the five to six-figure range for a batch in the field of thermoprocess technology," Wiener explains from experience. That is a risk that often occurs in other systems.

The new power controllers series from JUMO also offers significant advantages for continuous furnaces. Intelligent load management, compact design, and simplified wiring result in cost savings, as well as space and time efficiency. Wiener further states that these efficiency gains contribute significantly to the optimization of the entire process.

JUMO is setting new standards in the field of PLC technology with its new recorder app. It enables the full functionality of a paperless recorder directly in the PLC and offers maximum flexibility through browser access with the JUMO variTRON 500. This saves the cost of an additional panel, provided that on-site visualization is not absolutely necessary.

The JUMO variTRON 500 touch simplifies operation and startup through eliminating the need for a second piece of hardware in the form of a paperless recorder, if on-site visualization is required.
