Smart solutions for optimal greenhouse processes
A stable greenhouse environment is crucial for healthy crop growth. JUMO offers advanced measurement and control technology to accurately measure, monitor and control temperature, humidity, pH, conductivity and CO₂ levels. Our sensors - wired or wireless, analogue or digital - provide reliable data for a more efficient cultivation process.
The quality of the irrigation water, including accurate fertiliser dosing, is also of great importance. JUMO's sensors accurately measure conductivity and pH values, among other things, which helps growers meet environmental requirements as well as reusing water in a circular and most efficient way.
In addition, our technology is applied in greenhouse energy supply, such as in combined heat and power (CHP) and geothermal plants.
With the JUMO variTRON PLC automation system, growers gain real-time insights, can automate processes, and easily adjust settings remotely. This enhances both efficiency and sustainability in greenhouse horticulture.

JUMO offers advanced sensors, intelligent control systems, and customized solutions to support various OEM applications. These solutions are developed to meet specific customer requirements and align perfectly with the needs of your cultivation system and related measurements.
Smart climate control for optimum harvest
Modern greenhouses are all about balance. A stable climate is crucial for optimal crop growth. The JUMO HydroTRANS series provides accurate measurement of humidity, temperature and optional CO₂. This helps growers create an ideal environment, minimise plant stress factors and optimise crop quality.
In addition, JUMO's advanced measurement and control technologies enable precise matching of temperature, ventilation and energy consumption. PLC systems such as the JUMO variTRON allow growers to monitor and optimise their greenhouse processes in real time, enabling more efficient and sustainable growing. Thanks to modern communication protocols, these systems are also flexible and easy to integrate within a variety of automation solutions.
JUMO's innovative solutions take climate control to the next level, resulting in healthier plants, higher yields and stable crops.
Sustainable water management
The JUMO ecoLine Ci and JUMO CTI-500 are maintenance-free conductivity sensors that inductively measure electrolytic conductivity. This gives growers accurate insight into the amount of fertiliser in the water. Ideal for applications such as fertiliser dosing and return water measurements, these sensors contribute to efficient and sustainable water quality monitoring.
For complete control of water treatment plants, JUMO offers a total solution with sensors and the Aquis Touch S control system. This modular platform processes measured values from multiple sensors, monitors limit values and precisely controls processes such as fertiliser dosing, oxygen addition and disinfection.
JUMO measurement and dosing technology for precision fertilisation
Efficient and accurate nutrition requires reliable measurement and control technology. JUMO offers sensors and automation solutions that enable growers to continuously monitor and adjust pH, conductivity, and nutrient levels in irrigation water.
The specialized pH insertion electrode ensures accurate measurement of the pH value in water and nutrient solutions, maintaining the ideal acidity level for optimal nutrient uptake by crops — ideally between 5.2 and 5.4 pH.
To convert measured pH values into a 4–20 mA signal, JUMO offers the ecoTrans pH 03 — a transmitter that allows easy local calibration of the sensor.
For conductivity measurement, JUMO provides several solutions. The Blackline conductivity sensor is suitable for relatively clean applications and measures conductivity up to 5 mS/cm.
Additionally, the CTI-500 is widely used in both supply and return water. Thanks to its unique design and inductive measuring principle, this sensor is ideal for both clean and contaminated water flows.
These sensors assist in determining the correct nutrient concentration. Depending on the application, various versions are available. For full automation and monitoring of the fertilization process, JUMO offers the variTRON system and the Aquis Touch series.
With these advanced technologies, growers can optimize their nutrition strategies and minimize waste.
Optimal water disinfection in greenhouse horticulture with JUMO sensors
Water quality is a crucial factor in greenhouse horticulture. To prevent the spread of pathogens and keep crops healthy, various disinfection methods are used, such as UV, ozone, chlorine, and hydrogen peroxide.
Precise control of these processes is essential to ensure effective disinfection without excessive chemical dosing, which can damage plant roots.
**JUMO offers a wide range of sensors and automation solutions to support an optimal disinfection process.**
JUMO tecLine pH sensors monitor the pH level, which is critical for the effective performance of chlorine and ozone. For precise control of disinfection strength, JUMO tecLine ORP sensors measure the redox potential, providing valuable insights into the activity of disinfectants such as chlorine and ozone.
The JUMO free chlorine sensor monitors chlorine levels and ensures optimal dosing. In ozone disinfection, redox sensors provide accurate regulation and prevent overdosing.
The JUMO variTRON PLC or AQUIS Touch control system integrates all measurement values for real-time monitoring and automatic control.
Through the JUMO Cloud, growers also gain remote insight into various installations and sections.
CO₂ air washing in the greenhouse
In greenhouse horticulture, CO₂ is often used to stimulate photosynthesis and crop growth. A commonly used source of CO₂ is the flue gas from a steam boiler that heats the greenhouse. To safely and efficiently utilize these flue gases, a CO₂ scrubber is employed. But how does such a system work in combination with a steam boiler?
During combustion in a steam boiler, flue gases are released that, in addition to CO₂, contain other substances such as NOx and sulfur compounds. A CO₂ scrubber purifies these flue gases by removing the unwanted components, after which the clean CO₂ is returned to the greenhouse. This promotes plant growth and contributes to a more efficient and sustainable cultivation process.
To ensure that the gas scrubbing process operates safely and optimally, JUMO offers precise measurement and control technology. Pressure sensors for Ex-rated areas measure the pressure of both aggressive and non-aggressive gases, vapors, and dust. In addition, temperature sensors monitor the process conditions.
The JUMO mTRON T and variTRON PLC automation systems integrate these measurements and ensure efficient control of the scrubbing process, thereby guaranteeing stability and safety.
