In the past years, there has been a lot of writing and talking about Smart Industry and Industry 4.0. The implementation of new possibilities is consequently in progress.

Due to the fact that much knowledge and expertise is spread across the market, the transition to Smart Industry is not equally easy for every industrial application. One company may specialize in the development of digital and smart sensors, while another may specialize in software and cloud solutions. What communicates with what? It is an important question, as well as who has knowledge of all the aspects that comes with further automation of an installation or a machine? JUMO JUPITER is a powerful platform that provides the user with a high degree of flexibility. PLC technology is becoming increasingly versatile and automation platforms are meeting more and more market demands. An important factor is the freedom of design. We have integrated all common fieldbus systems and connections for you (Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, Proinet, EtherCAT, Bacnet). In total, JUMO JUPITER can handle eleven external and five internal interfaces. The software of our new automation system has a modular structure, based on a Linux platform and allows very good scalability for performance, memory and interfaces. The JUPITER platform is equipped with generous connectivity options. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are the standard. Advanced displays can be connected. Intuitive operating concepts, multi-touch screen and animated image transitions are standard features. The JUPITER platform was first deployed in the JUMO variTRON 500 automation system. The central processing unit offers all levels of freedom that the PLC CODESYS version 3.5 has to offer. CODESYS is now used by more than 10,000 application developers around the world and is available for more than 100,000 different applications.

IO-Link technology has a wide range of applications.

IO-Link contributes to the optimization of your production process by providing communication to the lowest level of the field. It is not a fieldbus but an extension of the development of today's reliable sensor connection technology. IO-link involves a serial bi-directional point-to-point connection for signal transmission and power supply without arbitrary networks and fieldbuses. JUMO has several sensors with IO-link in its product range. With minimal costs, IO-Link technology enables you to call up sensor information, parameterizations and diagnostics to optimally evaluate your plant status.

Digital sensors

Digital sensors are important in the industrial automation. Currently, there are various digital sensors on the market, ranging from sensors with IO-Link technology, PROFIBUS and CAN communication. In addition to IO-Link and CAN sensors, JUMO offers digital sensors for temperature measurement and water treatment (pH and Ci) under the brand JUMO digiLine. The JUMO digiLine is distinguished by its bus connection system. The measurement data and measurement location information (TAG no., etc.) stored in the sensor allow for clear identification and classification of the electrode. Configuration, parameterization and calibration data can be directly viewed via the sensor even after changing the transmitter. JUMO digiLine features a Plug and Play feature and has been successfully and frequently used in the water treatment industry in the Netherlands since 2016.
